The main driver of all my research projects is sustainable development. Some projects complement each other and some are standalone ideas, most of them following three research lines: biodegradable materials, alternative urban transportation and systems thinking for design.
Inspired by the story of Guiseppe Luraghi that using the waste of the tomato of the classic Italian pasta sauce, helped a linoleum company survive the WWII. I used the leafs that cover the corn to produce a material with good acoustic and heat insulation properties. Patent number: MX/a/2011/005508 Title: Material compuesto biodegradable elaborado con celulosa y fibras de braceas de maiz, con y sin infiltración de resina natural de pino. Authors: Victor Gerardo Martinez Perez, Maria Gabriela Gutierrez Pliego.
Together with Gabriela we founded Ecopilia, a company commercialising the first product made with this material: decorative wall tiles, we achieve colouring and press cold moulding.
Currently I’m working on a second type of material based on saw dust (wood).
