A B O U T

After a few years in Italy I decided to return to Mexico and start my own independent design activity, usually collaborating with many colleagues it has been one of the most productive periods so far and that gave birth to the period I’m going through now.

Noloos

Steering wheels are rarely questioned, we are so use to them that don’t imagine they could be improved. Noloos was born from a study of how we hold the steering wheel and the unnatural and many times dangerous positions of our hands. Noloos allows to always have one hand in a comfortable and safe position. In 2007 it won a Red Dot Design Award.

Brembo

Between 2006 and 2008 I collaborated with Jeker Design in Italy. The breaking systems manufacturer Brembo was our client. The objective was to explore design possibilities in both the disc and the caliper; together with aesthetic explorations that will resonate with different mayor car manufacturer brands. Images of this project still are under confidentiality agreement, as soon as it expires I will be able to post them here.

La Manga

No banker or politician will look after your money as good as “Lucio”. A ceramic piggy bank with different characters, all rough and tough ready to protect your valuables. La Manga is the brand that produced Lucio, full of double senses in the most Mexican way possible. Lucio won an honorific mention at the 5th Utilitarian Ceramic Biennial in the Franz Mayer museum in Mexico City.

Pandora

Pandora is a multidirectional drawer. Each drawer opens in four directions independently. A mechanism was developed to achieve this movement.

Del Dicho al Hecho

Inspired by the project “Change the World for a Fiver” I organised a group of colleagues and created a book with easy-to-do things to positively change the world, the book was called “Del Dicho al Hecho“. We managed to get funding to print 1,000 copies.

3D modelling

I started using CAD software since 1988! The first one was Autocad, later came 3D Max, but everything changed when Alias (Auto Studio) enter my life, adding to the workflow powerful software like Rhinoceros, Grasshopper and Keyshot made a world of difference.

Velip

As part of a project for personal mobility in Tec de Monterrey Queretaro I developed this vehicle. I built one prototype and we bought material and equipment to manufacture 11 more. It had a 24v 3/4 hp motor and two sealed lead-acid batteries, max. speed around 20km/h.

NATO

In 2007 I was hired to create the visualisations of the interior design of several rooms for the NATO meeting in Valencia, Spain.

Captho

Nowadays 1 out 6 humans have no access to water (nearly 900 millions). 8 out of 10 people without safe water live in rural areas. By 2050 1 out of 4 humans will have no access to water (possibly more than 2 billion). The atmosphere contains 12,900 km3 of fresh water, composed of 98% water vapour and 2% condensed in water clouds.

Captho system captures water from Air humidity, Dew and Rain inspired in two organisms: Bromeliaceae and Agavaceae.

I have built several prototypes testing different materials, this project is still going on in the back burner…

Juno

The roman goddess of marriage and protector of housewives.

This project is aimed to people in low-income rural areas where a small change like hot water to take a bath can increase considerably the life quality. Juno is made with basic materials and intended to be mounted by the user at the location where is going to be used. The prototype shown was built with only $22 USD.

We didn’t invent the wheel; we just wanted to share a feasible, tested option for building your own water heater at a very low cost.

It easily reaches 45ºC (113ºF), way above comfort level.
