Digital Physicalities Research Group

This group aims to:

  • Build a diverse group composed of faculty and students from any program in the Wilson School of Design and friends outside of it.
  • Produce a body of knowledge regarding the relevant points for designers’ interaction with the digital world, and share this with our community and beyond.
  • Explore and produce examples and experiments of the interactions between the digital and the physical world.

These interactions of the digital and the physical are been explored through various media, both traditional and digital, including microcontrollers, sensors, output devices and all forms of hacking (materials, toys, space etc). In order to apply these digital media in the physical world, the exploration includes additive manufacturing techniques (3D printing), and exploration of new material methodologies.
