Every year 640,000 tons of fishing gear is lost in the oceans. These debris cause severe damage to essential marine ecosystems.
In partnership with Steveston Harbour Authority and with funds from NRC IRAP my research assistants and I worked for a few weeks finding the most efficient way to recycle lost fishing nets and transform it into filament for 3D printing.
